INTERVIEW
with
Jonathan Doeppe
How long have you been in the music industry?
I have been playing
the drums since I was in the sixth grade. I
started playing drums in a band when I was a junior in high school. I
started actually rapping when I was 18. I took a few years off due to a drug addiction that I finally beat and started
going back at it hard core. It inspires me to do good.
What inspired you to create your type of music?
The person that got
me into doing this is a good friend of mine whose name is Jason DeLeon. The
things I write about in my music are inspired mostly from real life situations
that I have been through. I am a wild guy I have been all over the world, dated
a lot of girls and done a lot of drugs. I have a lot to talk about I feel!
Who are your musical influences?
I have a lot, I
listen to a bit of everything. Jay-Z, Coldplay, Rage Against the Machine, The
Roots, 311, Notorious B I G, Kanye West, Snot, Elton John, The Eagles, Citizen Cope, Bob Marley, Outkast, etc....
What type of practice schedule do you have?
I practice everyday!
That's the good thing about having no one else to depend on I can practice
whenever and where ever I want! I would say at least 2 hours a day is spent on
music and if I miss a day I will probably do 4 the next day. Its fun its not like
work!
What is your favorite gift ever given to you by a fan?
If I told you guys
she would kill me lol!!!!
What are your plans tours and festivals wise this year?
I plan on touring Fredericksburg
and Charlottesville, and it looks
like I have a good number of fans in Richmond!
Are you planning on expanding your tours to the US this year?
I hope to be on tour across the U.S.
by next year. I do have a few shows to do in Guatemala
in late July and August!
How valuable do you feel internet radio will be to the future of new
artists?
Internet and
Satellite Radio are the best!! Hell with regular radio its like listening to a
Wal Mart C.D. I like raw listening and that is what the internet and satellite
bring to the table. In that regard I think it is HUGE!!!
What is the craziest thing some one has done to meet you?
I don't have it like
that yet! Wish I did!!
Do you feel a Street Team is vital to the expansion of new artist fan
base?
I would say yes and
no. You can do all that work yourself! It def. Doesn't hurt! Anyone who helps
an artist out is definitely a helpful person! We do need all the help we can
get!
What would you consider your fan base to be?
I would say most
girls from 16 to 35 love my stuff! I would also say that anyone that really
gives it a chance likes it to! Lets be honest I don't look the part!
How is your album dong so far?
My demo comes out
this month I don't have an exact date but definitely this month and most of it
will be on my Myspace page!
Do you notice a difference in the
audiences based on the countries?
I don't think it matters where you are from as long as
the music is from your soul people are going to dig it! As long as you love
what your doing people will be able to tell by your music!
What's your favorite country to tour in?
U.S. Baby!!! I have done shows in Guatemala before too!
Have you listened to Castlestone Radio?
What do you think about its variety?
I love it you play a little of everything just like
what I listen to!
Could you imagine yourself doing anything
other than what your doing now career wise?
If so, what would that be?
I still go to school as a back up plan! If this never
works out then I want to be an Archeaologist! I am half way through school
right now, just a little at a time due to my music but its something to fall
back on I guess. Maybe so people don't think I am crazy for chasing my dream,
the thing is I know I am talented so it's really more to help my music the more
you learn the smarter you are!!
What inspired themes of your music?
Everyone from Ex
girlfriends to my Daughter Ayla!
What process do you use to create a new song?
I just start writing
or I start by freestyling and recording
it. Then I take what I like from the recording and put it on paper.
Do you feel added pressure as the singer and songwriter for the band?
In my field if I
can't do it then no one will and that is tough sometimes!
Who would you like to tour with?
The Roots, and Jay- Z
What would be your dream tour?
DoPe, Rage, The
Roots, Jay-Z,
